The gift shop of the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad is located in the travel level lobby of the beautifully restored 1913 Western Maryland Railway Cumberland Station. The shop offers a variety of items, from local-interest railroad collectibles to an extensive line of Thomas the Tank Engine merchandise. For over 40 years, Hepburn Orchards has been owned and operated by the Hepburn family of Hancock, Maryland. Their old-time fruit market located just off I-70 (near the eastern terminus of I-68 from Morgantown, WV, and Cumberland, MD) is a favorite stop for tourists and travelers at this important and historic junction point. The Western Maryland Rail Trail, which runs directly behind Hepburn's market complex, is also a popular attraction to the area offering about 25 miles of paved right-of-way for cyclists along the former Western Maryland Railway main line. The Central Terminal Restoration Corporation (CTRC) was founded in 1997 to oversee the stabilization and restoration of the Buffalo Central Terminal. Local preservationist Scott Field acquired the 18-acre site, including concourse, tower, and four story baggage building along Curtiss Street.
